Zoning Hearing Board

The Rye Township Zoning Hearing Board has the responsibility to hear cases on individual requests pertaining to any possible deviation to the Zoning Ordinance. This includes variances, special exceptions and interpretations, or appeals of determinations made by the Zoning Officer.

Applications are available at the Township office. Cost to make application for a variance or appeal is $850.00, which must be paid at the time of application.

The Board consists of five community members appointed by the Board of Supervisors for staggered five year terms. An alternate member of the community has also been appointed to assure that a quorum of the Board can be met should a member not be able to attend a hearing or should a request possibly be a conflict of interest.

The Board meets as requested in the Township office building.
